wash day | 5.10

i was supremely overdue for a trim, so i decided to straighten to assess the situation and take care of my ends.
i skipped the pre-poo because i like to get my hair squeaky clean when straightening. what i shouldn't have skipped, however, was the thorough detangling that usually accompanies my pre-poo. textbook rookie mistake.

1. washed with organix brazilian keratin therapy shampoo (gets my hair really, really clean without making it feel like hay).

2. second shampoo with donna marie super moisturizing shampoo (to add back a tiny bit of moisture without residue).
it's pretty greasy/stringy from the extra oil i added before wrapping it up.

3. conditioned with tresemme naturals nourishing moisture conditioner for 5 minutes (i skipped my normal DC - i just didn't feel like my hair needed it).

4. saturated hair with chi keratin mist.

5. sealed in keratin mist with one 'n only argan oil hair treatment for heat protection.

6. blew it out with my sultra temptress dryer with the comb attachment. this is when i regretted not detangling. luckily, this dryer is like the best thing ever created so it wasn't tooooooo bad.

7. gave myself a 1-2" trim all around to take care of the splits. there were a good amount but i'm used to that. it just seems to come with the territory of having fine and soft hair. i don't trim to maintain a cut/shape or for even hair because i hardly ever wear it straight. plus my hair grows the way it wants (read: crazily), so any attempts at doing so would be thwarted anyway.

8. flat ironed on 300 degrees with the sultra flirt flat iron (only because i left my brazilian heat flat iron in my trunk and was too lazy to get it). i used the comb chase method.

9. oiled the crap out of it to coat the fresh ends and wrapped it for the rest of the day. the oil sunk in overnight and i was left with soft, sleek, and lightweight hair in the morning (forgot to take a pic... oops?).

i'm happy to be at bra strap length, but i don't think waist length will be happening in 2014 unless i get a serious summer growth spurt. i need 4" to be scraping it, i will probably trim twice more this year, and there are only 7 months left until december. i will continue to grow it out and see where i end up - hopefully full midback length!

how was your wash day?
